Kansas Relays
Men's Track & Field
takes nine to Kansas Relays. A cold and rainy weekend gave way to
cancellation during the final day of competition.
St. Thomas junior
sprinter Roman Cress missed the finals in the 100 and 200 meters
but did hit an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 100 meters
in Friday's Kansas Relays.
Cress was 18th out of 40 entrants. Cress also clocked 22.21 and
placed 15th out of 26 in the 200-meter dash prelims.
Junior Andrew Hilliard bettered his season-best time in the 400
hurdles as he ran 54.23. He missed the finals, but was 13th out of
33 overall in the prelims.
Two Toms missed the finals in the 400 dash -- junior Justin Hall
(49.66) and freshman Jason Schwietz (49.82). The Toms also failed
to advance in the 4x100 relay with Tom Hart, Carson Glad, Hilliard
and Cress clocking 42.32.
Thursday, UST's Andy Kummer finished 23rd of 34 runners in the
5,000 meters Thursday night in a time of 15:50.90.
On Friday, Andrew Kisielius will compete in the triple jump; and
the 4x400 relay team of Glad, Schwietz, Hall and Hilliard will
run.
On Saturday, All-American hurdler Craig Benson will run the 110
hurdles, and the finals will be held in several of Friday's
events.
The rest of the St. Thomas team will compete at Saturday's
Carleton Relays.
