Computing Resource Center + Library =InfoCommons!

The information commons is located in the Charles J. Keffer Library space and merges the resources of the Keffer Library and the Minneapolis Computing Resource Center.  Members of the St. Thomas community are able to:

  • do research

  • prepare a paper

  • craft a multimedia presentation or web site

  • meet as a group

  • learn a new software application, either in a group or individually

  • consult with librarians and technology specialists all in one space.

But why?

The increasing and inextricable connection between the access and use of information is the basis for the development of the information commons model. The information commons is a physical space, but more importantly, a place where collaboration between staff who support research and staff who support creation of scholarly material occurs for the benefit of university community. At the Minneapolis campus, it is also imperative that the members of our community who have limited time on campus are given seamless access to and support for a wide variety of services.
