Library Services for Education Students

Access Services:
On the second floor of Opus Hall, immediately inside the library entrance, Randall VanMeter, Bill Zych, or Linnae Weinrich and their able assistants will help you with circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan services. In addition, they will be able to answer your general questions and provide change for copiers.

Reference Services:
The first floor of the library houses the majority of library resources, including back issues of journals, ERIC documents, reference and circulating materials, and computers to access electronic resources-including ERIC.

The reference librarians will be available to guide you through the research process, either on a walk-up basis, or through a scheduled appointment of longer duration. Appointments are encouraged, and can be arranged for small groups or individuals either as a general orientation to resources, or for a specific research topic.

Curriculum Resources:
The first floor of the library is home to an array of print and non-print curriculum materials, including the children's literature collection, the curriculum materials collection, a collection of class projects from past students, and the 'Make and Take' room for the creation of classroom projects. In addition, there is a computer available to evaluate educational software, and create curriculum materials. These resources are available during all library hours.

Study Spaces:
While the library includes ample space for individual and group work in common areas, there is also a room set aside for quiet study on the first floor of the library. Four group studies are also available, and can be reserved in advance.

Computing Resources:
The library has three computer classrooms, two with PCs and one with Macintosh computers.  There are multimedia computers for scanning, converting material to digital format and for use with specialized software. There are also PCs and Macs in the public area set aside for research purposes.

Copiers:
Photocopiers and microform copiers are available for public use. These machines accept coins or Express Cards.  Change is available at Access Services.

Remote Access:
Access to our web-based library databases is available from home or office; (UST Libraries Online Databases) a link to the directions for off-campus users can be found in the menu on the left side of the database page.  For more web-based Education resources, as well as other library services, please visit our library web page at www.stthomas.edu/libraries/keffer/index.htm (Charles J.
