Library Services for UST Alumni

Borrowing privileges

UST alumni may borrow any of the UST libraries' circulating resources.  They may also use any of the libraries' resources in-house.  Access to reference service is subject to availability, with preference going to currently-enrolled students.  Alumni may not borrow items from CLIC consortium partner schools' libraries or through interlibrary loan.  They may borrow any of these types of circulating materials through their local public or institutional libraries.

For UST alumni to borrow books from UST libraries, they need an Alumni Library card.  An Alumni Library card can only be obtained at the circulation counter of one of the UST libraries. Before issuing a card to an alumnus, a circulation supervisor must confirm this status using either the most recent edition of the UST Alumni Directory or the UST administrative computer systems. If we cannot confirm your alumnus status in either way, we will ask you to provide us with confirmation of your status from the UST Registrar.

A patron using an Alumni Library card may check out up to six books concurrently.  Books are due six weeks from the date of checkout, but may be renewed twice for six weeks each time.  All books are due at the end of the term during which they are borrowed, regardless of the date they are checked out.

Online Database Usage

Alumni may use the UST libraries' online databases on-site at any of the libraries: simply present your Alumni Library card to a staff member at the reference desk and ask to be logged on to a computer as a guest.

Unfortunately, licensing restrictions and cost prevent us from being able to offer off-site access to our databases at this time.  However, public libraries statewide offer residents of their city or county remote access to a number of the same databases UST offers.  Often this access is obtained using the bar code from your public library card.  Contact your local public library for details.  You can check our other library catalogs page to locate major metro area library systems.
