CRIME AND THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN AMERICA:  An Encyclopedia.  1997.  (REF HV 6789 .C6884 1997)
A one-volume resource to define terms, cases, figures, policies, studies, etc. in the criminal justice field.

DICTIONARY OF AMERICAN PENOLOGY.  1996.  (REF HV 9304 .W54 1996)
An in-depth dictionary covering the American prison systems.  Articles are more lengthy than a normal dictionary reference, and they include a few references at the end of each article.

DICTIONARY OF CRIME: CRIMINAL JUSTICE, CRIMINOLOGY, AND LAW ENFORCEMENT.   1992.   (REF HV 6017 .E5425 1992)
Definitions of criminal justice terms along with sources from which the definitions were identified.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF AMERICAN PRISONS.  1996.  (REF HV 9471 .E425 1996)
An encyclopedia which covers the history and current operations of the American prison systems.  Cross-references are included to similar topics and each article includes a list of resources for further reading.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CRIME AND JUSTICE.  2002. (REF HV 6017 .E52 2002)
A four-volume, interdisciplinary encyclopedia covering all fields relating to criminal behavior, crime prevention, punishment and treatment of offenders, institutions, and law.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CRIME AND PUNISHMENT.  2002.  (HV 6017 .E524 2002)
Also, four volumes, this publication attempts to bring together information from a variety of sources on crime and punishment in America and it's affects on the populace.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CRIMINOLOGY AND DEVIANT BEHAVIOR. 4 vols.  2001.  (REF HV 6017 .E53 2001)
Volume 1 includes historical, conceptual and theoretical issues, Volume 2 covers crime and juvenile delinquency, Volume 3 review sexual deviance, and Volume 4 covers self-destructive behavior and disvalued identity.  Use the excellent author and subject indexes found in Volume 4 to find the specific information that you need.  This is an excellent encyclopedia and each article includes an extensive bibliography.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF POLICE SCIENCE.  2d ed.  1995.  (REF HV 7901 .E53 1995)
In-depth articles on policing in the United States.  Articles are written by experts and scholars in the field and include lengthy bibliographies.  An additional "Bibliography of Police History" is included as well as a general subject index to specific topics.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF SOCIOLOGY.  2000.  5 vols.  (REF HM 425 .E5 2000)
The major basic, in-depth encyclopedia covering the field of sociology.  Articles are signed and include a list of references on each topic.

THE FBI:  A Comprehensive Reference Guide.  1999.  (REF HV 8144 .F43 F35 1999)
A good overview of the organization including "Notable Cases", "Controversies and Issues", "Traditions and Culture", "Oversight and Liaison Relationships", "Organization and Day-to-Day Activities", "Biographies", and "The FBI in American Popular Culture".  It includes a chronology of key events, an annotated bibliography, and a detailed index to specific subject terms.

The International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences.  2001.  26 vols.  (REF H 41 .I58 2001)
A major encyclopedia in the field.  Each in-depth article is signed and includes cross-references and a bibliography of resources.  Volume 25 is an index to names in the publication, and volume 26 is a subject index to the set. 

WRITING LITERATURE REVIEWS: a guide for students of the social and behavioral sciences.  (REF H 61.8 .G3 1999)
A basic help guide for the social science students.
